20 months {Jonah}

Size: I would say that Jonah is still right at 27 pounds and 34 inches tall -- not much change over this month. Still in 18-24 month clothes and 5-6 shoes. Size 4 diapers and 5s at night.

Teeth: Those bottom two molars have finally completely erupted (man, they took a long time to come through), but I think his canines are making moves now. I haven't seen them poke through, but I'm noticing their presence under the gums. Just like all his other teeth, they'll probably take a while to emerge...

Mobility: Jonah still runs everywhere, jumps up and down all the time, and loves to climb. He's very adventurous, especially when it involves climbing and will repeatedly try to climb on things (even after we've told him no). He goes up and down single steps by himself, without holding on. If someone is around, he likes to go step over step on flights of stairs. Jonah is learning to swim now! At first, the pool was just a place to walk around in and splash. Now, he loves his swim trainer and likes to jump off the side into the pool and kick and move his arms, swimming short distances.

Fine Motor: He still loves to paint and draw with crayons or chalk, although he has a short attention span with it. He's very good with using a fork and spoon, and often likes to take our adult silverware and use those to eat with. Jonah is also learning to count -- when you say "one", he will follow it up with "two" and stick his index fingers up in the air -- like he's counting on his fingers!

Language: You know when you are trapped in a car for a long ride you come up with games? Randy and I played a game called "name all the words Jonah knows and can use without prompting". I bet 30 words. Randy bet 40-50 words. We were able to come up with over 60 words he knows how to use without us helping him!! That seems crazy to me. We've also noticed that he's starting to put words together now to make phrases like, "bye bye bunny", "thank you, mama", "night night baby", or "more cheese". Some new ones this month: owl, cheese, chair, eww, stuck, empty, neigh (horse sound), truck, blue, orange, purple, yellow, green (he's not very accurate with his colors, though), pool, shirt, cheerios, triangle, oval, circle, star, helicopter, jump, kick

Personality: Jonah is very friendly with almost everyone! He's taken a great interest in other kids and will happily play around and with other kids close to his age and older -- and he's pretty good with babies. Even his teachers at daycare have commented on his saying "thank you" after everything... including diaper changes (he still hasn't gotten "please" down). Jonah is totally into bugs right now and "finds" them everywhere. He's also gotten very bossy with pets! He yells at the cat when she jumps on the counter ("no no kitty"), tells my parents' dog, Kirby, to go "night night puppy" when he wants him to go lay down. Overall, he's a very active little boy who loves to be outside exploring!

Jonah-isms: If he sees two of anything, he will state what it is ("tree") and then point to the other one and say "more tree" ~ If you show him a heart, he will beat his hands on his chest and say "boom boom boom" ~ He loves to try to pick up things, even heavy things like hand weights and baby brother ~ He loves to point out ovals or triangles if he sees them (he was shouting "oval" in the backseat the other day because we passed a sign that was oval; arrows painted on the ground have triangles, as he has pointed out to us multiple times) ~ The word bunny is pronounced "buh-lee", and he will say it over and over again because he loves to see the bunnies in our backyard

Toddler moments: We've decided that he's like the seagulls from Finding Nemo. If you leave him and he doesn't want you to, he starts pitching a fit and yelling "mine mine". If you tell him "no" on something, he likes to grab something he knows isn't his and claim it as a way of retaliating. Awesome.
