Westley {6 months}

Size: Westley has had a delayed 6 month check-up due to a late 4 mo check-up + our pediatrician being out of town + mommy's work schedule. So needless to say, it's all a guess at this point. Based on previous weigh-ins and the 'ol "stand on the scale with the baby and then subtract my weight" trick, I'm guessing he's about 18 to 18.5lbs. No clue on the length, but I'm guessing pretty average. He's wearing all 6-9 month and 9 month clothes, size 3 diapers and size 2 shoes.

Teeth: What?! I know. My first two didn't sprout teeth until closer to their first birthday, but lo and behold, my little guy has sprouted his two bottom middle incisors. It seemed to happen overnight too! Hopefully he's a good teether and continues to sprout them without too much disruption in his happy little personality.

Mobility: Totally into rolling! He doesn't seem to mind being on his belly these days and can easily get from back to belly (almost exclusively by rolling to his left). I haven't seen him roll all the way to the right yet, or get from belly to back just yet. I can tell he's working on it though! Also, this month he's started "swimming" on his belly. I really don't remember either Jonah or Nolan doing this, so it's kinda fun to see him do it. He's really begun to start sitting with a little support. He still topples over but it seems to be improving daily! This kid is also a jumper! He loves when you hold him on your lap to bounce or even in an exersaucer/bouncer.

Fine Motor: Westley loves his hands/fingers and his feet! He's always reached for them and is starting to reach out for anything and everything around him. I know he's teething because he loves to chomp down on anything and everything. He's also started "shaking" toys/rattles to make them make a sound.

Sleep: A slight settling at night has occurred over this period of time and he's starting to get much better at night. He typically crashes by about 8pm and sleeps pretty well at night, maybe waking 1-2 times a night. He's mostly a side and stomach sleeper, but he puts himself there and wiggles all over the crib by the morning. Interestingly enough, with all this pollen, he's had a couple bloody noses overnight and I'll find blood smeared across the sheet in the morning. Eek. As far as naps, he's usually got a good morning and afternoon nap in (ranging from 30 mins to 3 hrs; typically one is long, one is short to medium in length) and then a catnap in the evening around dinner time. He's turned into a great napper and I can usually get him down without much fuss. Luckily, he's pretty flexible and can nap on the go in the car or the ergo pretty easily too.

Feeding: This past month has been a 6oz bottle (or nursing) every 3 hrs still but he's been happy with that. He's a great nurser and tends to be quick about it (10-20 minutes). The most exciting thing has been the introduction of solids recently! He's started out with sweet potatoes, pears and apples. He's loved all of them. He jumped straight into about 2-3oz each time at dinner and seems totally into it!

Personality: I am not biased at all (ha), but he is such a happy baby!! If there is a reason for him to be upset, sure, he's gonna let you know. Overall though, he smiles at you and engages with you when you talk to him and play with him. I've started to see his curiosity level begin to rise as well, watching things very closely. If you put him in front of a mirror, he's going to smile at himself--it's so cute!

Illness: Seems to be just a little sniffly-nose at times and the bloody nose at night for this month!

Loves: his puppy lovey, his blankets, peek-a-boo/Ahh-choo, Jonah & Nolan, Mommy & Daddy, TV/phone screens, colorful lights, music, holding Jonah's hand, bathtime, his feet, his hands, rocking/walking/bouncing

Dislikes: being set down when he doesn't want to be

Oh, and he totally got the sides of his hair cut just before Easter! Seriously, 6 months old and getting a "haircut". But let's be honest, his hair is kind of amazing and goofy all at once.

Happy SIX months, Westley!
