Apple Picking

For the first time ever in ALL of our lives, we went apple picking in North Georgia! This has been on our to-do list for several years but just never managed to get around to doing it. We traveled up to Blue Ridge, GA to visit Mercier Orchards. It was such a fun time and surprisingly kid-friendly. Truthfully, I had this mental image of me running around this big forest trying to find my kids, not picking any apples and leaving exhausted and apple-less with grumpy kids.

Waiting in line to get our tickets and hop aboard the tractor ride out to the orchard was probably the hardest part! Snacks always help pass the time...

Once we got out to the orchards, we were so glad to hear that you got to pick and eat basically whatever you wanted. What were we going to do with all those apples the boys tried but didn't like? Oh yeah, throw them on the ground!! I don't think I've ever seen my boys eat so many apples in one day. They absolutely loved it. Jonah was particularly fond of the Jonagold and Jonaprince apples, naturally. But really, they loved all the varieties.

Extra fun thing to do? Shoot the Apple Cannon! This was also a fun activity with the boys (and providing some help). Randy won a free small pie for shooting an apple into the barrel.

All in all, it was a great trip and we look forward to making it again next year.

Added bonus? Going with your photographer and snagging your family photo (to later be used as Christmas cards). :) Thanks, Jess!
