Nolan {19 months}

Size: Based on last months stats, he's likely 24lbs now and about 32.5" tall. I finally began to pack away the 12 month stuff and some of the 12-18 month items. He's wearing mostly 18 month, 18-24 month and a few 12-18 still. He's moved up to size 5 shoes, still in size 4 diapers (such a skinny waist!).

Teeth: Officially has some new chompers! He has cut both of his top molars and his bottom left molar. His bottom right molar is just below the gum line and should be making its appearance any day now. Nolan has 9 teeth now and awaiting number 10. After these molars, I'm hoping his bottom lateral incisors finally make a move since he still doesn't have those (or any canines).

Mobility: Well, disaster will strike one of these days... Nolan can climb on the couch by himself. And Jonah's bed with the stool (and jump on the bed). And into the bathtub (includng our big garden tub). And go up and down stairs by himself (on his bottom or his belly). When he tries to go down holding my hand, he takes steps that are often too big, so he's not there yet. On Christmas Eve, Nolan learned how to do a somersault all by himself! There was one occasion where I caught him attempting to climb (successfully) out of his crib. We were hoping to wait to move him to a toddler bed until 2 years old, but that might need to happen sooner rather than later.

Fine Motor: For the most part, he's really shown a right-handed dominance with almost everything: eating, coloring, throwing. Speaking of throwing, he's really grown interested in sports, specifically football, basketball and tennis. Nolan loves when you give him the sports announcer play-by-play call when he's playing basketball (dunking). He's finally figured out how to actually throw a ball (previously he would bring his arm up and more than likely, drop it behind his head before he threw it). He's discovered Jonah's little tennis racquet and loves to run around with it yelling "rack-rack"! This month, he's started to show some interest in puzzles and can do the really basic ones with the knobs on the pieces. I discovered that he's capable of eating Cheerios in a bowl of milk with minimal spilling.

Language: New words: Clifford, tree, cup, no, go, racquet ("rack-rack"), chip, shirt, sock, shoe, hair, color. I have noticed that he is just starting to put two words together into a sentence such as "tree off", "cup empty". He doesn't use them often, but we've heard him do it a few times now. He's still not making all of the sounds right with words, but its still early (like "hup" for cup, but says "kerkle" for circle so we know he can make the sound). We'll just keep watching it and intervene when necessary.

Favorites: Loves his new Clifford the Big Red Dog books from Uncle Brad and Aunt Christine! He loves the "What Does the Fox Say?" song and loves to shout "ding ding ding ding"!! Still loves his blanket, Bobcat, "ribbit" the stuffed frog,

Toddler Moments: Nolan has not spent that much time in time out this past month. He's been listening a little better when we ask him to do something or not to do something. Don't get me wrong, he's still an obstinate toddler who loves to test us, but I think he's starting to realize that we WILL follow through on discipline if necessary. Our bigger battles recently have been at the table as he loses interest in his meal, he begins to push his chair back, throw things, drop food off his plate, etc. so we've been trying to work on table manners.

Happy19 months, Nolan!! You're such a little ham!!
