6 months

Our little boy is half a year old today! Insane how fast it has gone by. Yes, those sleepless nights early on when we really didn't even know him were a challenge, but we survived! He is such a happy little boy and we are enjoying watching him grow and explore the world around him.

Weight: 15.4lbs (25th percentile)
Length: 27in (75th percentile)

His development is right on track and has met all of his developmental milestones for 6 months. Jonah is still on the lighter side of the scale, but nothing we're too concerned about since he's been like that from the beginning. About the only thing of concern is the fact that his head is slightly tilted to one side-- almost like a touch of torticollis, but absolutely nothing to be worried about. Trust me, I've been watching it closely! :)

Jonah is a champ at sitting unsupported! Even Dr. Dixon was most impressed at his skills for his age. He still topples over on occasion when he starts kicking him legs too much or reaches too far. At this time, he can easily sit for several minutes unsupported and play without losing his balance. And, he's figured out how to turn while sitting without falling over!

Rolling has not been a problem for him. He rolls and rotates around on his quilt to get to the things he wants and will sometimes roll from his tummy to his back. J is sooo close to figuring out how to roll from his back to his tummy! He gets about three-quarters turned and then can't figure out what to do with his bottom arm to get onto his belly. Sad to say, but he still pretty much hates tummy time. Despite his moaning and fussing, he has figured out how to press up with his arms to raise his chest off the floor, but his tolerance for tummy is still minimal. At this point in time, I doubt he will crawl... he'll be the one who scoots everywhere. :)

This kid loves to eat solid foods! Jonah turns into a little baby bird vacuum when his food comes out. His mouth stays open and he "mmm"s if you aren't fast enough between bites! These days, his menu consists of apples, pears, banana, mango, peaches, avocado, sweet potatoes, peas, carrots, and (sort of) green beans, along with rice cereal and oatmeal. I have some other foods I am hoping to introduce in the coming weeks to broaden his taste. I'm pushing hard to not have a picky eater on my hands! Oh, and he eats bubbles...

Now that it's summertime, we've started introducing him to the pool! Our first visit to the pool didn't turn out so great because the water was much too cold and he fussed the moment we put his little foot in. The second trip was much better and he tolerated his feet in the water for quite a while. We didn't think he would go in, so we didn't have a suit for him at the time to get all the way in. Hopefully this week/weekend we will get him all the way in. He loves bathtime, so I imagine he will tolerate a nice warm pool just fine once we get him in. We also have a little kiddy pool for him that we will set up for him to use in our backyard.

This past month we participated in our church's Baby Dedication service, but I am still waiting on the photographer to send out the pictures! Once I get my little hands on those digital prints, I'll post on that service! But here's a our little guy as we waited prior to the service!

And Jonah loves to read books! Well, maybe not actually reading them himself, but participating in book-reading. All the little board books are being loved to death right now. Every time we hand him a book, he reaches with both hands for it, and seriously, he turns the pages for us. Okay, so maybe he's not a genius baby (yet) and the page-turning isn't always in the right direction or at the right time, but he's totally turning the pages. :)

Can't wait to see what's in store for this coming month!
