2 months old!

Our little man is already 2 months old! He visited the pediatrician yesterday and here's the verdict on how much he has grown:

Weight: 10lbs, 9.6oz (25th percentile)
Length: 23.5in (75th percentile)

Those numbers do not surprise me one bit! He just looks long and skinny to me. He eats quite a bit, but he just doesn't seem to get rolls and chubby cheeks like other babies. Apparently he just uses the food to grow longer. His head circumference continues to be in the 25th percentile and his weight has been between the 15th and 25th percentiles from the beginning. But his length! Sheesh! Jonah has shot up from the 10th percentile to the 75th percentile in height. According to the sizing chart for clothes, 3 months size is for 8-12.5 lbs and 21-24 inches. So his weight puts him right in the middle, but in length he'll be outgrowing it soon! No wonder a lot of his pants were just falling off his waist! :)

The pediatrician was pleased with how well he is doing physically and developmentally. Jonah decided he was going to show off while Dr. Dixon was holding him- he was raising his head perfectly (even though he was holding him on his belly) and turning his head to look at whoever was talking. Wish I had a picture of Jonah turning his head and looking at the doctor as soon as he spoke - so cute!

Jonah also got his first vaccines! :( We had declined the hepatitis B vaccine at birth, so he received the first of that series yesterday. He also got the pneumococcal, whooping cough, and rotavirus immunizations. All told, 2 in the left leg, 1 in the right and 1 orally (plus some tylenol to go with them)! I wish I could say he took them like a champ... but he didn't. He sucked down the oral vaccine and the tylenol, then revved up for the injections. As soon as she finished, Randy picked him and up and he quieted right down, though. Guess they didn't hurt him that much.

To top off the day, we all went (back) to our favorite daycare to meet the infant teacher. We loved her and continue to love the facility. I think we've made a decision finally! Jonah seemed to like her... well, enough to fall asleep in her arms! I know it won't be easy to leave him at first, but I feel good about this facility and the people who would be caring for him. His little class will be all girls and one other boy! Guess we should get ready for him to be a little ladies' man...

  1. Congratulations to you guys! He is adorable! I read through your posts and was impressed with your tagging of dev. Milestones. It's so much cooler when it is your own. Take care,
